Colour Revolt
Esperanza Plantation

If you turn to the back of a mathematics textbook, you'll find Colour Revolt listed as the answer to one of the odd-numbered problems. It's one of those story problems. Pavement load up their tour van in California and start driving east, initially at 65 miles per hour, but speeding up, despite noisy engine trouble, as they cross the square states, and eventually taking a more southerly direction. A few days after they depart, Will Oldham and some of his bearded friends leave Kentucky and make a beeline for the Gulf. Television pack up their guitars and head out of New York City. One of these groups is listening to Modest Mouse, one is listening to Nirvana and the third is listening to Sixteen Horsepower. They're all cruising along when, due to the trajectories and velocities (you do the math), the tour vans all simultaneously collide at the junction of Interstate Highways 55 and 20. The resulting fire melts everything into warped and distorted patterns and welds it together. What do you get? Turn to the back! Buy this record!
